Fund Raising

Fund Raising

The Lancer Band program is dependent on a very vigorous fundraising program supported by the Band Boosters, students, and band families.

Booster Fundraising

The Booster Organization raises money to support the Band program as a whole while also creating opportunities for members to earn funds for their Individual Student Savings Accounts (ISSA). Boosters who are not able to volunteer for or participate in Band fundraisers, should consider making a substantial donation to the general fund so that other members will not need to carry more than their fair share.

Since the Conejo Valley Unified School District provides only a small portion of the funds needed to operate the Band, it is our responsibility as Boosters to raise the funds needed to cover operating expenses. Our program depends heavily on the money generated by fund-raising activities. Major fundraisers are listed. Check the news page and Bugle for current dates and details.

Associated Student Body (ASB) Fund Raisers

Each Band student is a member of the Band Organization and has obligations to the group as a whole. That obligation includes participation in fundraising efforts. Monies earned directly from student efforts are collected in an ASB account, regulated by TOHS. Each member is responsible for a $100 yearly contribution to the ASB account. This money can be earned by selling tickets to one of the four ASB car washes, selling ASB Candy or participating in a Booster ISSA fundraiser and requesting transfer of funds into the ASB account. In addition to this $100 obligation, all student members are required to participate in the ASB Pennies for Piccolos and Holiday Caroling fundraising activities as well as working at their designated ASB car wash. ASB funds are used primarily for instrument and equipment purchase and repair and for registration fees for competitions and festivals.

Individual Student Savings Account (ISSA) Fundraising

The Booster Organization has established Individual Student Savings Accounts (ISSA) and plans ISSA fund-raisers to help families offset band expenses. ISSA Fundraisers dedicate a portion of earnings to the individual member accounts. The list of fundraisers that contribute to ISSAs is quite extensive and includes all types of SCRIP purchases, car wash ticket and candy sales beyond the ASB minimum, and Ad Book sales.

Booster Volunteering

Donation support is critical to the Band Program, but money alone cannot meet all its needs. Booster Parents volunteers fill essential behind the scenes roles throughout our program. Active Boosters reap the rewards of lifelong friendships as well as the chance to work with and get to know a terrific bunch of students.

Fundraising (Ways and Means)

Each of our fundraisers requires volunteer support in order to be successful. There is something here for everyone so please say yes when the call for help goes out. We can't do it without you! Our program budget is paid for through fundraising efforts and donations from all families in the program.
